Angela Aldridge

Angela Sue Aldridge, 47, of Poplar Bluff, passed away June 14, 2016 in the Wheeling Hospital, in West Virginia. She was born July 8, 1969 in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

She is survived by, her husband, James Aldridge of Poplar Bluff; two sons, Robert Rushin and Ross Rushin both of Poplar Bluff; step children, Anthony Norman and Noah Aldridge both of Poplar Bluff; and Arizonia Morse of Poplar Bluff, and her Father, Truman A. Gaultney of North Carolina.

She is preceded in death by her Mother, Barbara Roach Gaultney. Angela was a homemaker and enjoyed computers, collecting antiques and spending time with her family.

Visitation will be Wed., June 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., with funeral starting at 12 noon in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville. Burial will take place at Three Springs Cemetery.


Jimmy Dale Richmond

Jimmy Dale Richmond, 64, of Doniphan, Missouri, passed away June 21, 2016 at his residence. He was born August 6, 1951 in Ripley County, Missouri to Elmer Richmond and Lorene Walker Richmond.

Jimmy is survived by one son; Mike Richmond of Doniphan, Missouri as well as his mother, Lorene Walker Richmond of Belleville, Illinois; one brother, Elmer Gerald Richmond of Doniphan, Missouri; two half brothers, Chip and Jerry Fay both of Belleville, Illinois; two sisters, Bonnie Wilson of Doniphan, Missouri and Ina Crawford of Oxly, Missouri as well as one half sister, Judy Hutchinson of New Athens, Illinois. Two grandchildren also survive  Michael and Bentley Richmond.

He is preceded in death by his father, Elmer Richmond as well as one half brother, John Fay.

Jimmy had worked for State Conservation Department and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Visitation for Mr. Richmond will start Monday June 27, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. till 11:00 am with the funeral starting at 11:00 am in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Missouri. Elder Russell Chitwood officiating with the burial in the Pope Chapel Cemetery near Doniphan, Missouri.

“Gerald Richard Rich, 72, of Poplar Bluff died Friday, June 24, 2016 at his residence.  He was born July 4, 1943 in St Louis, Missouri and raised in Neelyville, Missouri.

He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. He was a retired educator, working for 30 years as a teacher and principal at Neelyville High School. “He recently received the Lieutenant Governor’s Service Award  for his volunteer work with the Butler County Tax Board.

He married Evelyn Burnett on June 22, 1963 and enjoyed 53 years of Marriage. She survives.

Also surviving are four sons: Kenneth and wife Iris, of Salem, Arkansas, Roger and wife, Lisa, of Batesville, Arkansas, Jerry and wife, Cheryll, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Larry and wife Julie of Bono, Arkansas. Eleven Grandchildren: Ryan and Kendra; Brittany and husband Matt, Kaylee and Koby; Lauren, Jacob, and Sarah, Jaden, Halle and Carley. One great grand child, Daxton.

He loved to spend time with family and friends, watch his grandchildren play sports, golf and travel, and watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball.

Visitation will be from  6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. Sunday June 26, 2016 at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel, Inc. at Neelyville, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday June 27, 2016 in the funeral home chapel. Brother Steve Patterson will officiate. Burial will follow at Corning Cemetery In Corning, Arkansas.

Billy Ray Jones

Billy Ray Jones, 83, went home to be with Jesus on June 26, 2016 at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center.  Mr. Jones, son of John Starkey Jones and Pearl Lee (Cook) Jones, was born June 8, 1933 in Egypt Arkansas.  He grew up on a farm and never got away from the soil.  He enjoyed growing vegetables and strawberries and sharing them.  He loved to take Bonnie Knowles and Betty Absheer corn on the cob.

One of his conversation starters was, “Did you ever pick any cotton”?  He would pick 450 lbs. a day to supplement his G. I. Bill to support his family while in college.  He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and spent his overseas time on Misawa AFB and on an outpost in northern Japan.

He attended Southern Baptist College (Williams) and Arkansas State College (University) and Bailey Technical School in St. Louis.  He helped build Hopkins Fertilizer and Grain in Qulin, MO , and later retired from Ozark Border Electric Cooperative.

He was a cheerful encourager to those he worked with and met along the way.  His smile was always evident as he endured to the end (2 Tim. 2:12a) in his battle with dementia.  He loved the Lord and served Him in many ways at the United Methodist Church in Qulin and cheerfully drove the bus at First Church of God in Poplar Bluff, where he was a member.  He was a man of God, serving where he could, at every opportunity.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Rosalie (Hopkins); daughter Lisa and husband Edwin DeGaris, of Poplar Bluff, son Lane and wife Paula Jones of Oak Ridge, MO; special daughters Karen Kohler, Nancy Jordan, and Fonda Eden; 5 grandchildren: Christopher DeGaris and wife Michelle, Elizabeth (DeGaris) Christian, Ross DeGaris and wife Pam, all of Poplar Bluff, Dylan Jones and Jesse Jones both of Austin, TX; 8 great-grandchildren, Abagail and Luke Christian, Annalise, Emma, and Ashton DeGaris, Garen, Shianne, and Kara Thomas; 2 great-great-grandchildren Brody and Aubrey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers: infant Denny, Larry, Danny, and Dennis Jones; 3 brothers-in-law: Terry Rorex, Bill Romine, and Don Hopkins; and 1 great-grandchild: Austin DeGaris.

Visitation will be 5:30-8pm Wednesday, June 29 at First Church of God in Poplar Bluff.  The funeral service will be Thursday, June 30, at 1pm at the First Church of God.  Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery on Hwy 21 Doniphan.

Terry Gilmore

Terry Gene Gilmore, 55, of Corning, Arkansas, passed away June 26, 2016 in Paragould, Arkansas.

He was born August 5, 1960, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., to Don Gilmore and Norma Rowland.

He is survived by; One son Tim Gilmore and wife Kelly, and One daughter Elizabeth Diane Gilmore Bishop both of Doniphan, Missouri. Also surviving is one brother, Jeff Gilmore and two sisters; Paula Knight and Kathy Wachoff. His mother Norma of Jacksonville, Missouri and father Don Gilmore of Neelyville, Missouri.

Terry had served in the United States Army and had driven a truck. He enjoyed baseball, fishing and car racing.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 30, 2016 starting at 6:00p.m., with funeral Friday, July 1, 2016 at 11:00a.m., in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Missouri. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery.

William “Bill” Church

William “Bill” Edward Church, 54, of Fisk, Mo. passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at his home.

Mr. Church was born on November 14, 1961 in Rome, NY. He was a member of the Elm Grove Baptist Church and was a Free Mason in Columbus, MS.

Survivors include, his sister-in-law, Judy McGee and Fiancé Felipé Lopez of Blue Springs; mother-in-law, Barbara McGee; 3 sons, Phillip Schuler, Jesse Shculer and Nick Church; 1 daughter, Michelle Allen; brothers, Kevin Church and David Church; sisters, Deborah Kidder and husband Richard and Cindy Primm; as well as his grandchildren, Kiera Church and Brianna Church

He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Andy McGee.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville from 12:00-1:00p.m. with funeral beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at the Naylor Memorial Cemetery.

Bishop James Lee Price

Bishop James Lee Price, 82, of Poplar Bluff died Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.  Bishop Price was born January 10, 1934 in Hazlehurst, MS to the late Eli and Velma (Brown) Price.

Bishop Price was the pastor of The Lively Stone Church of God for 43 years.  He was a United States Navy Veteran.

In 1965 he was united in marriage to Georgia (Kincade) Price, in St. Louis, MO.  She survives.  Also surviving are children: Angel Bryant (Patrick) of Poplar Bluff, Heather Price of Poplar Bluff, sons James L. Price Jr. of St. Louis, Ronald Price of Clear Lake, TX, Daniel Price of Poplar Bluff, Vincent Kincade of Springfield, MO, Anthony Price (Ann) of Memphis, TN, Alphonso Price (Earnestine) of Poplar Bluff, Glenn Price of Atlanta, GA, Jeffery Price (Nicole) of Poplar Bluff, MO and Richard Price of Poplar Bluff, MO; sisters: Mary Dunbar , Bessie Newell (Isaac), Josie Bolton and brother: Orvell Price (Kasie) all of Hazlehurst, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bishop Price is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Phyllis James and sister Essie Smith.

Visitation will be 12pm to 1pm Saturday July 9, 2016 at Mt. Calvary Power House Church of God Speedway Drive in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at the church at 1pm, with burial to follow in Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.


Bobby Joe Hill

Bobby Joe Hill, 87, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016, with his family at his side, at the Mark Twain Caring Center in Poplar Bluff.

A life long resident of Poplar Bluff, Bobby was born February 16, 1929 to the late John W. Hill and Grace M. (Robertson) Hill. He retired as a sales clerk from 303 Sporting Goods and was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed gardening and traveling.

He married Wanda Marie (Harwell) Hill on May 28, 1949 in Piggott, Ar.  She preceded him in death January 28, 2013.

Survivors include his children, Constance Evans (Tom) of Poplar Bluff, Robert Hill (Teresa) of Wappapello, and Bridgett Ellis (Dale) of Poplar Bluff; one brother, Donnie Hill (Nadine) of Springfield, Mo.; 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Four sisters and three brothers also precede him in death.

A memorial visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2016 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, followed by funeral services at 2 p.m., in the chapel, with Pastor Arvin Haynes officiating.  A private family burial will be held at a later date.

 

Cloyce “Dean” Bilbrey

Cloyce Dean Bilbrey, 84, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Saturday, July 9, 2016 at his home.

He was born May 25, 1932 in Shook, Mo. to the late Earl Bilbrey and Thelma (Childress) Bilbrey.    He worked in timber logging and raised cattle.  He enjoyed riding horses, running his dogs and he dearly loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On March 26, 1955 he married Mary (Alford) Bilbrey in Hernando, Ms.  She survives of the home. Together they shared 61 years of marriage.

He is also survived by three daughters, Teresa Phelps, Deanise (Allen) Barker, Bobbi (Doug) Hon and a son, Tim Bilbrey; his grandchildren, Charlie (Taylor) Barker, Justin Barker and Dylan Barker, Bucky (Amanda) Hon, Shannon (Matthew) Sparks, Charles Hon, Michael Hon and Mary (Vernon) Davidson; as well as his great-grandchildren, CJ Hon, Tanis Sparks, Rylee Sparks, Porter Hon and Quentin Hon.

His son-in-law, Basil Phelps, also preceded him in death.

Visitation for Mr. Bilbrey will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  A graveside service and interment will follow at 12 noon at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery with Pastor Kevin Murray officiating.

 

Howard Eugene Greer

Howard “Eugene” Greer Sr., 70, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Saturday, July 9, 2016 at his home.  Mr. Greer was born July 31, 1945, in Poplar Bluff, to the late Fredrick Homer Greer and Norma Emeline (Patterson) Greer.

Mr. Greer was of the Baptist faith.  He served in the United States Army, from 1965-1971, during the Vietnam War.  He was retired from the Poplar Bluff R-1 School System as a bus mechanic and bus driver.

He is survived by his children, Howard Greer (Stephanie), Bobbie Hayes, Sherry Million (Steve) and John Greer (Jenny); four sisters, Nettie Coleman, Joyce Mercurio, Grace McKnight and Sandra Ketchens; a brother, Walter Greer; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Greer is preceded in death by his parents as well as four brothers, Howell, Delbert, Fred and Bill Greer.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.  Friday, July 15, 2016 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  A GRAVESIDE funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the  Mo. State Veteran Cemetery, in Bloomfield, Mo. with full military honors. The Rev. Henry Pasquet will officiate.

Carolyn Jean Chappell

Carolyn Jean Chappell, 62, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Friday, July 15, 2016 at her home.

She was born July 16, 1953, in St. Louis, Mo.  She was of the Pentecostal belief and enjoyed baking, spending time with her family and grandchildren, and her dog, Fiesty.  She had worked in sales and marketing.  A lung cancer survivor, Carolyn’s greatest joy was giving and doing for others. She was the most generous, selfless and outgoing person with a beautiful soul.

On April 16, 2003 she married Rob Chappell in Fernandina Beach, Florida.  He survives.

Other survivors include her parents, Gene and Pat Stamps; her daughter, Amy (Jerry) Edmundson and  son, Tony (Misty) Wallace Jr.; two sisters, Lisa Trainor and Sandy Griffin (Jimmy), all of Poplar Bluff; two brothers, Danny Stamps of Alton, Ill., and Randy Stamps of Poplar Bluff; as well as 10 grandchildren, Shelby (Jimmy)Phelps, Chelsy Whelchel, Wesley Whelchel, and Caleb Whelchel, Tucker Edmundson, McKena Edmundson, and Sheldon (Sarah) Edmundson, Charlie Wallace, Cooper Wallace and Collin Wallace, and 3 great-grandchildren, Lexi Sieben, Lillian Phelps and Kylee Edmundson.

One sister, Karen Stamps and nephew, Sean Bright precede her in death.

Visitation will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2016 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.   The funeral service will follow at 6:30 p.m in the chapel with Rev. Bud Goins officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Poplar Bluff UCAN chapter in her honor.

 

Claude Alan Conner

Claude Alan Conner, 68, of Fairdealing, Missouri, passed away July 23, 2016 in the John J. Pershing V.A. Hospital of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He was born May 16, 1948 at Qulin, Missouri to the late Elmer George Conner and Jamima Winingnear Conner.

On August 6, 1969 at Qulin, Missouri,  He was married to Maxine. She survives.

Also surviving; Sons Don Conner and wife Lena of Fairdealing, Missouri and Jeremy Conner and wife Kellie of Cape Girardeau, Missouri,  His Mother; Jamima Conner, of Qulin, Missouri. three sisters; Carolyn Dunivan of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Cheryl Farley and Layman of Crocket, Arkansas and Sandi Kinghorn and husband Ted of California. He is also survived by  Ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Conner was preceded in death by his  father as well as two brothers, Dennis Michael and Donald David Conner.

He served his country in Panama and Vietnam 18 years and earned a Purple Heart, Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, and Army Commendation with Oak Cluster for his bravery in Da Nang during the Vietnam War on June 10, 1968.

He enjoyed: short wave radios, fishing and his grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr. Conner will be July 28, 2016 starting at 11:00 a.m. till 12:00 p.m. in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel Inc. of Neelyville, Missouri . Then leaving the funeral home  to have a   graveside service for Mr. Conner starting at 1:00 p.m. July 28, 2016 In the Burger Cemetery near Qulin, Missouri. Rev. Allen Leutert will be officiating.

Bonnie Marvlee Johnson

Bonnie Marvlee Johnson, 78, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016.

Mrs. Johnson was born June 27, 1938 in Poplar Bluff.  She was a member of Abundant Life Christian Center in Poplar Bluff.  A homemaker, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, traveling with her husband and buying and selling antiques.

On August 30, 1975 she married Archie Johnson in Poplar Bluff.  He survives.

Other survivors include her children, Gary Gowen, Janet Thomas (David), Donnie Gowen (Brenda), Diana Gowen, Rodney Johnson (Shelly), Lori West (Ray), Kevin Johnson and Carrie Johnson; 4 sisters, Virginia Magill, Louise Pratt, Lola Morgan and Carleen Gowen; 3 brothers, Virgil Randall, Ed Randall and Phillip Randall; as well as 24 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Randall and mother, Leatha (Brown) Cattron; 2 sisters, Margaret Gossett and Edna Moore; and grandchildren, Richard Thomas and Rebecca Diane York.

A memorial visitation will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Abundant Life Christian Center (corner of Bradley and Dalton Street, Poplar Bluff).  The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor David Thomas officiating.  Interment will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, August 8, 2016 at Mo. Veterans Cemetery, Bloomfield, Mo.

Edna Mae Baker

Edna Mae Baker, 73, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016, at The Cedargate in Poplar Bluff.

Mrs. Baker was born September 19, 1942, in Tulsa Ok., to the late Jim and Amanda Bennett.

She had worked as a nurses’ aide at Oakdale Caring Center.  She was of the Pentecostal faith and enjoyed going to church.

Survivors include one sister, Ellen Bash of Tulsa Ok. and brother, Larry Bennett of Sandsprings Ok.; and  two grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her  husband Jerry Baker a  son, Kenneth Baker; 3 sisters and 5 brothers.

Visitation will held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2016, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, followed by a graveside service at 11 a.m. at Marble Hill Cemetery in Poplar Bluff, with Rev. Shelvie Stephens officiating.


Elton Dunlap

Elton Richard Dunlap, 81, of Harviell, Mo., passed away Sat. July 30, 2016 at his home.

Mr. Dunlap was born on Nov. 2, 1934 in Harviell. He worked as a truck driver and enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, horse riding, reading to his grandchildren, and gardening. He loved the outdoors, listening to birds and nature. He was of the Pentecost faith and attended Bluff City Apostolic Worship Center and Harviell Jesus Name Pentecostal Church. He loved going to church and taking his family. He also was a former church board member at the Harviell Jesus Name Pentecostal Church, as well as a former board member of the Kinsey Cemetery and a member of the Teamsters Union #574 in Cape Girardeau.

On April 18, 1958 Elton married Ana Belle Peirce Dunlap at University City. She survives.

Also surviving is, 4 daughters, Michelle Meyers & husband Lee of Columbia, Mo., Joy Burke & husband Ben of Poplar Bluff, Jan Chronister and husband John of Wappapello, Mo. and Julie Stevenson & husband Richard of Fairborn, OH.; son-in-law, John Wiggins of Rolla, Mo.; 2 sisters, Ella Mae Campbell of St. Charles, Mo., Helex Reeves and husband Don of Bourbon, Mo.;6 grandchildren, Milena Coolbaugh, Rick Voolbaugh, Jessica Paige Stevenson, Jacob Chroister and Emma Chroister.; and 1 great-grandson, Musha Coolbaugh.

Mr. Dunlap was preceded in death by his daughter, Melody Wiggins, as well as his parents, Lonnie and Bernice Dunlap; sisters, Orean Campbell, Paulina Lucas, Goldie Carol Dunlap and Linda Teson; and  brothers, Oral Dunlap, Elvie Dunlap, Roy Dunlap, Loyd Dunlap, Hershel Dunlap and Archie Dunlap.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016 from 11:00 – 2:00 at the Bluff City Apostolic Worship Center. The Funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ted Elledge officiating and Rev. Leroy Murray assisting.

Burial will take place at Kinsey Cemetery in Harviell, Mo.

 

In Lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made o the Kinsey Cemetery Association. Special thanks to John Cochran Medical Center in St. Louis and Drs. Apicel and Nayak.

 

Glenden Darrel Casey

Glenden Darrel Casey, 81, of Neelyville, Missouri passed away August 3, 2016 in the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. He was born May 14, 1935 at Fairdealing, Missouri to the late James Everett Casey and Palymra (Nobles) Casey.

On June 12, 1962 at St.Louis, Missouri He was married to Ganeene .  She survives. Also surviving is one son; Thomas Casey and wife Jean of Clarksville, Tennessee

. One sister; Evelyn Davidson of Wentzville, Missouri. Two Grandchildren; Amanda Knapp and T.J. Casey.

He preceded in death by his parents; as well as one brother, Harold Casey and three sisters, Ruthie May Campbell, Pauline Brett and Bernice Davidson.

Darrel had served in the United States Marine Corp. and was a member of the Fellowship Southern Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Director. He had worked at General Motors corporation as a painter.  He enjoyed collecting Rocks and gigging.

Visitation for Mr. Casey will begin Saturday August 6, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Mo. with the funeral following at 1:00 p.m. in Neelyville. burial will be in the Fairdealing Cemetery with Pastor Tim Freeman officiating.

“Gerald Richard Rich, 72, of Poplar Bluff died Friday, June 24, 2016 at his residence.  He was born July 4, 1943 in St Louis, Missouri and raised in Neelyville, Missouri.

He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. He was a retired educator, working for 30 years as a teacher and principal at Neelyville High School. “He recently received the Lieutenant Governor’s Service Award  for his volunteer work with the Butler County Tax Board.

He married Evelyn Burnett on June 22, 1963 and enjoyed 53 years of Marriage. She survives.

Also surviving are four sons: Kenneth and wife Iris, of Salem, Arkansas, Roger and wife, Lisa, of Batesville, Arkansas, Jerry and wife, Cheryll, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Larry and wife Julie of Bono, Arkansas. Eleven Grandchildren: Ryan and Kendra; Brittany and husband Matt, Kaylee and Koby; Lauren, Jacob, and Sarah, Jaden, Halle and Carley. One great grand child, Daxton.

He loved to spend time with family and friends, watch his grandchildren play sports, golf and travel, and watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball.

Visitation will be from  6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. Sunday June 26, 2016 at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel, Inc. at Neelyville, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday June 27, 2016 in the funeral home chapel. Brother Steve Patterson will officiate. Burial will follow at Corning Cemetery In Corning, Arkansas.

Billy Ray Jones

Billy Ray Jones, 83, went home to be with Jesus on June 26, 2016 at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center.  Mr. Jones, son of John Starkey Jones and Pearl Lee (Cook) Jones, was born June 8, 1933 in Egypt Arkansas.  He grew up on a farm and never got away from the soil.  He enjoyed growing vegetables and strawberries and sharing them.  He loved to take Bonnie Knowles and Betty Absheer corn on the cob.

One of his conversation starters was, “Did you ever pick any cotton”?  He would pick 450 lbs. a day to supplement his G. I. Bill to support his family while in college.  He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and spent his overseas time on Misawa AFB and on an outpost in northern Japan.

He attended Southern Baptist College (Williams) and Arkansas State College (University) and Bailey Technical School in St. Louis.  He helped build Hopkins Fertilizer and Grain in Qulin, MO , and later retired from Ozark Border Electric Cooperative.

He was a cheerful encourager to those he worked with and met along the way.  His smile was always evident as he endured to the end (2 Tim. 2:12a) in his battle with dementia.  He loved the Lord and served Him in many ways at the United Methodist Church in Qulin and cheerfully drove the bus at First Church of God in Poplar Bluff, where he was a member.  He was a man of God, serving where he could, at every opportunity.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Rosalie (Hopkins); daughter Lisa and husband Edwin DeGaris, of Poplar Bluff, son Lane and wife Paula Jones of Oak Ridge, MO; special daughters Karen Kohler, Nancy Jordan, and Fonda Eden; 5 grandchildren: Christopher DeGaris and wife Michelle, Elizabeth (DeGaris) Christian, Ross DeGaris and wife Pam, all of Poplar Bluff, Dylan Jones and Jesse Jones both of Austin, TX; 8 great-grandchildren, Abagail and Luke Christian, Annalise, Emma, and Ashton DeGaris, Garen, Shianne, and Kara Thomas; 2 great-great-grandchildren Brody and Aubrey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers: infant Denny, Larry, Danny, and Dennis Jones; 3 brothers-in-law: Terry Rorex, Bill Romine, and Don Hopkins; and 1 great-grandchild: Austin DeGaris.

Visitation will be 5:30-8pm Wednesday, June 29 at First Church of God in Poplar Bluff.  The funeral service will be Thursday, June 30, at 1pm at the First Church of God.  Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery on Hwy 21 Doniphan.
