William Harold Thornberry, 77, of Poplar Bluff passed away on Friday April 29, 2016, at Hunter Acres Caring Center in Sikeston Mo.
Mr. Thornberry was born on March 27, 1939 to the late William Thomas and Emma Elizabeth Thornberry. On December 19, 1969 he was united in marriage to Carol Jean Hendrickson at Poplar Bluff, Mo. She preceded him in death on November 10, 2010.
Mr. Thornberry was a veteran of the United States Air Force, he was a member and long time deacon of the Highland Drive Church Of Christ, where he served as deacon for several years. He retired as an engineering tech for Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis, MO.
Survivors include two children, Joy Yowell ( Lincoln) and Lana Thornberry, one sister, Elaine Day, two brothers James Thornberry and Oris Thornberry, three grandchildren, Aidan William Yowell, Colin Phillip Yowell, and Nolan Joseph Yowell, also a very special friend Glenda Lewis. Preceded him in death also a sister Dorothy Harty.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Monday at Fowler -Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Gardens Cemetery with full military rites. Vernon Curry will be officiating.
