Peggy Elizabeth Woodard, 89, of Poplar Bluff, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016.
Mrs. Woodard was born Feb. 16, 1928 in Saint Louis, Mo. She worked as a homemaker and attended Naylor Methodist Church where she had served as secretary-treasurer. she was also Naylor’s first Homecoming Queen, as well as a 50 year member of the Eastern Star, where she had served as state representative of Eastern Star. She was past Worthy Grand Matron and President of Naylor Alumni. She was an avid supporter of Naylor Athletics. She was also faithful with vacation Bible School and served on the poles at election. .
She married Robert Woodard in Feb. of 1948. He preceded her in death Oct. 11, 2014.
Survivors include her sister, Betty Abernathy of Naylor; grandchildren, Mark and wife Tina of Poplar Bluff, Natalie Murdock and husband, Brad of Springfield, Mo., and Amy Thompson and husband, CD of Siloam Springs, Ar.; and great-grandchildren; Dalton, Austin, Shelby, Anna Grace and Gray.
She was preceded in death by her son, Doug Woodard Jan. 17, 2006; her daughter, Brenda Kay Woodard Dec. 11, 1955; parents, Judson Ward Sept. 22, 1978 and Marie Ward, July 22, 1959; one brother, Dr. Robert Ward; and a grandson, Lyle Baccaus Nov. 13, 2003.
Funeral Service took place on March 2, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel.
